Workshops
Of course, Tohuwabohu also lives from the workshops you bring with you. There will be a large schedule to which all workshops will be attached. We are looking forward to a wide range of different circus and artistic areas - for beginners and advanced. Guided workshops or simply an exchange of knowledge. Let's create a beautiful, colorful offer together.
If you have any questions or need help with planning, please write to us:
Catering, accommodation & arrival
What is the sleeping situation like?
A maximum of 300 overnight places are available (2 dormitories & campsite).
What about food?
Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. Both vegetarian and vegan. We try to keep the offer as varied as possible, unfortunately it is not within our possibilities to take into account all different forms of intolerances/allergies.
You are also welcome to bring your own food - just don't eat in the halls, but in the designated rooms/areas. That's clear ;).
Please do not use gas stoves or barbecues.
Where can I park my car/WoMo?
The gym has a Parking lot without electricity and water connection. The spaces directly adjacent to the hall are only available in small numbers. There is a public parking lot to the north of the Brandberge sports hall (at the northern end of the sports field) which can be used to park your car. The parking lot directly next to the Brandberge sports hall is reserved for gala artists, the crew and people with physical disabilities. We therefore ask you to keep this parking lot free. There are 20 car parking spaces which can be purchased via the ticket system.
Where is the nearest streetcar stop?
The nearest streetcar stop is called Schwuchtstraße.
Around the convention
What happens at this convention anyway?
For all newcomers: for four days (from Thursday to Sunday), Halle will be a meeting and exchange point for jugglers, acrobats, balancers, diabolo, devilstick and poi players from all over. Watching and getting inspiration is absolutely OK, but the convention thrives on taking part and trying things out. It's good if you have your own equipment with you, but there is also some on site and you can borrow a lot from others if you ask nicely.
There is a wide range of workshops on offer, which will be posted on site and can and should be expanded by everyone!
What can be trained at what times and where?
The Brandberge sports hall will be open from 09:00 to 22:00. If necessary, the Firespace will be open in the evening until 01:00. In addition, the dance room and the gymnastics room in the SV Halle will be open during the entire convention period, as well as the outdoor area of the SV Halle.
How did the Tohuwabohu come about?
The word "Tohuwabohu" comes from Hebrew and more or less means "chaos". When the Halle jugglers got together for their first meeting in 1996, they were looking for a place to meet and exchange ideas, a place to hang out together and prepare for performances. This is how the Tohuwabohu-Café was founded, a small, cozy pub where you could not only enjoy drinks and snacks, but also perform on the open stage, try out juggling props and even buy them. The Tohuwabohu quickly became a popular meeting place for various artists and their friends. Unfortunately, the café no longer exists, but its spirit should live on. That's why the Tohuwabohu Convention has been held in Halle since 2014, where circus enthusiasts and those interested in all disciplines can let off steam as part of a festival lasting several days.
Since 2019, Tohuwabohu Halle has been organized as a non-profit association (Tohuwabohu Halle e.V.).
What happens away from the convention?
Tohuwabohu e.V. not only organizes the convention, but also other events for jugglers, acrobats and all related areas, such as the Santa Claus juggling or a regular open training session every Sunday.
We are also working on expanding our children and youth division. We regularly hold several workshops and vacation projects with children and young people. The Saalesparkasse bank provided us with funds for this, which we used to buy juggling equipment.
In the future, we plan to expand our focus and make juggling and related circus activities more inclusive.
Tickets & Admission
What is the deadline for pre-registration?
Up to and including 15.08.2025 you can get tickets online at the pre-sale price. From 16.08.2025, tickets will only be available with a chaos surcharge of €10. Day tickets are available online at any time and on site while stocks last. Last-minute ticket holders will receive all-inclusive tickets on site - if still available - again with a chaos surcharge.
We are always happy if tickets are purchased in advance so that we can be relaxed and prepared in our overall planning 😉
Are there group discounts or discounts for circus groups?
If you would like to take part as a group, please contact us directly - we will certainly find a solution.
Can I return a ticket I have already paid for if I am ill, for example?
If you fall ill and are unable to attend, please contact us via our contact form so that we can get in touch with you. If all tickets have already been sold and there is already a waiting list for tickets, we will do our best to pass on your ticket.
Otherwise, the statutory regulations apply. In other words, the right of withdrawal according to the instructions.
Please understand that we will not be able to consider cancelations received on or after the first day of the convention.
I am a minor, can I still take part?
Yes, but you must be accompanied by an adult - if this is not one of your parents, you will need a parent/guardian slip.
Admission for pets?
Unfortunately not in principle. Pets are not permitted on site. In particular, dogs are not permitted on the grounds of SV Halle or on the grounds of the Brandberge sports hall.
